Marie-Eve Scarey - Photographer
Montreal, Canada
Marie-Eve always wanted to do photography since the early age. As a child she used her parent’s film camera to photograph the things of her daily life, mostly photos of her cat.
Marie-Eve has taken analogue photography classes at London College of Communication, UK, in early 2000s, of darkroom practice & printing. She travelled Europe taking pictures of shows and touring with bands and that’s where the love of documenting the punk scene came from.
Back in Canada, she attended many punk festivals and started to work on artistic projects using a digital camera. Her photos featured on the cover of several music albums and appeared in many online magazines and zines. As a side project, she makes accessories out of vegan leather and takes all the photos for her online stores.
As a photographer and an artist, her approach is to capture the energy and the mood of an event/moment. She likes to support and work with the women in the punk scene: the ones that fight against the hierarchy of genres, those who want a safe place where they can socialize, create and have fun, and the punk scene is a place for us.
Marie-Eve Scarey has been experimenting with photography for more than 2 decades, working on different series and projects. You can view her work at:
